Observations

Introducing Milo!

You Recruiter types probably don't know me...I’ve been here for a while.

Mostly in the background.

Listening to Richard’s calls.

Watching recruiters recruit recruiters.

Observing what happens when people who negotiate for a living suddenly have to negotiate for themselves.

It’s been… educational...

I’ve learned that recruitment has its own language, its own rules and quite a remarkable number of contradictions.

There are good days. Bad days. Deals that are definitely happening. Deals nobody is allowed to mention in case they “jinx it”. Clients who want unicorns. Candidates who aren’t looking but would still quite like to know the salary, commission, location, working pattern and probably the MD’s inside leg measurement.

Humans are fascinating.

So, after several years of quietly taking all this in, I thought it might be time to share a few observations from the floor of Lusso.

Richard doesn’t know I’m posting this.

I suspect he thinks I’ll become more popular than him.

He may have a point.

Anyway.

I’ll be sharing the ups, the downs, the occasionally ridiculous and some of the things I’ve learned from spending far too much time underneath the desk of a man who’s been in recruitment for over 25 years.

Despite my very short legs and even I can see where some of these conversations are going.

I’ll also try to be useful.

If there’s something about recruitment, your career or the market you’ve always wanted to ask but don’t particularly fancy being dragged into a recruitment conversation you can ask me instead.

Quietly. Privately. No commitment.

Email me anytime on milo@lussoconsultinggroup.com

I’ll answer what I can.

And if it genuinely needs Richard, I’ll tell you.

Just don’t be a silly sausage.
