Overview

CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT LEADERSHIP

We are working with a well-established independent construction recuitment agency to help them build their emerging contract/freelance division.

This opportunity comes with live contractors, existing Tier 1 client relationships, and a defined route to Director and potential equity.

There is a considerable difference between being asked to build a contract desk from zero and being given the foundations to build one properly. This is the latter.

Our client is an established construction recruitment business that has already developed the clients, supply agreements, and perm team.

With contractors working through the business today, live jobs incoming and warmed-up clients with existing job flow, what this business needs is an experienced contract recruiter to take ownership of it, and turn that foothold into a serious division, and build a team around them.

02

The Firm

Established more than years ago by Directors with a combined 30 years in construction recruitment, this is an independent recruitment business that is now in a phase of aggressive growth enabled by a strong track record with established relationships across the Tier 1 main-contractor market.

The permanent team is very successful; the client relationships are already established; and multiple supply agreements are in place.

Importantly, there are already temporary workers out with clients; so this isn't a theoretical contract opportunity waiting for somebody to prove the market exists.

The environment is entrepreneurial, agile, and high-performance.

The Directors remain close to the business, decisions can be made quickly, and the incoming person will work directly with them to shape what the contract division becomes.

The business operates from high-end offices close to Liverpool Street and works together in the office five days a week.

03

Who This Suits

An experienced white-collar Construction contract recruiter with a proven track record running a freelance desk within a UK built-environment recruitment agency.

Someone who understands the Tier 1 main-contractor market and knows how to turn existing client relationships and supply agreements into a substantial contractor book.

An established Principal Consultant who has reached the point where simply billing more isn't enough and wants their next move to lead somewhere; into management, leadership, and ultimately ownership.

You don't need previous management experience but you do need the credibility, ambition, and commercial instinct to build a team around you.

Someone attracted by the autonomy of an entrepreneurial independent business, but who still wants clear targets and a defined route for what happens when they deliver.

04

The Role

Your initial brief is straightforward: take ownership of the existing contract opportunity and build it.

You'll inherit a business with contractors already working across established main-contractor clients, existing supply agreements, and a permanent team generating relationships and intelligence across the Construction and MEP markets.

From there, the opportunity becomes yours.

You'll develop the contractor book, deepen existing accounts, open further opportunities, and work directly with the Directors on the strategy for the division.

As revenue grows, you'll begin recruiting and developing consultants around you.

And unlike vague promises of “management opportunities in the future”, the progression here has numbers attached to it.

£200,000 in personal annual billings creates the route to Associate Director.

Build a team of four generating £750,000 annually and the progression moves to Director.

The intention is not simply to hire another good biller.

It is to find the person who can build the contract division of the business.

05

The Rewards

£60,000 £65,000 basic salary

Commission of up to 40%, with guaranteed commission for the first five months while you establish and grow the desk.

The wider package includes private healthcare, gym membership, quarterly performance rewards, and annual high-achiever trips.

But the real value of the proposition is in what happens if you build successfully.

There is a defined route from Principal Consultant, to Associate Director, to Director, with clear commercial targets rather than an open-ended promise of progression and no shifting politics found in larger companies.

There is also a genuine opportunity to earn equity, linked to specific performance targets over a threeyear period.

For the right person, this is an opportunity to move from being paid well for what you bill to having a meaningful stake in what you help build.
