Overview
- SENIOR / PRINCIPAL CONSULTANT, US DATA CENTRES | CONTRACT
- South London / Kent | £38,000 £40,000 Basic + Commission to 40% + Earnings Guarantee
There are plenty of recruitment businesses trying to get into the US Data Centre market. This one is already there.
You'll join a rapidly growing specialist recruitment business with an established footprint across the UK, US and Middle East and one of the larger teams dedicated specifically to Data Centre and Mission Critical recruitment.
- The US client relationships exist.
- The reputation exists.
- The candidate network exists.
- The infrastructure to recruit and payroll contractors compliantly in the US exists.
- And an established team is already working across the lifecycle of major Data Centre projects.
What they want now is another experienced recruiter capable of turning more of that platform into a substantial US contract desk of their own .
You're not inheriting somebody else's contractor book. You're inheriting something arguably more valuable: A specialist brand, established relationships, warm opportunities, project intelligence and a team already inside the market you want to develop.
02
The Opportunity
You'll recruit contract professionals across the rapidly expanding US Data Centre and Mission Critical market .
And this is a much bigger recruitment landscape than simply “Data Centre Construction”.
The existing team follows projects throughout their lifecycle, from site and land acquisition, planning and design through construction, MEP delivery and commissioning to technical operations, maintenance and critical systems .
That creates recruitment opportunities across an enormous range of Built Environment and Engineering disciplines.
Depending on your background, you might choose to develop a market around:
- Construction & Project Management
- Commissioning
- Design
- MEP/HVAC
- BMS & Controls
- Critical Systems
- Technical Operations & Maintenance
Or build around a particular project phase, technical discipline or candidate community.
Geographically, the remit is equally broad. You'll recruit across the United States , following clients and opportunities as Data Centre investment moves between locations rather than being artificially confined to one state.
You'll also be working alongside an established specialist US team. That means sharing project intelligence, client knowledge, candidate relationships and leads with recruiters who are already speaking every day to organisations and professionals operating in this market.
Existing clients have contract requirements. Relationships and client agreements are already in place. Candidates are already engaging with the business. There is business to uncover immediately.
But this isn't an account-management role and there isn't a contractor book waiting to be transferred into your name. You'll be expected to develop existing relationships, create new ones, uncover additional requirements and build your own specialist contractor network.
The difference is the platform you're doing it from.
And the economics are significant. Specialist contractors within this market commonly generate around $4,000 in monthly margin per contractor . For a successful recruiter building towards approximately 20 contractors working consistently, this can become a very substantial desk.
The market is large enough geographically, technically and across each stage of the project lifecycle for you to find an area you can genuinely own.
03
The Firm
This is a true specialist. Data Centres and Mission Critical infrastructure aren't a recently added vertical sitting inside a generalist recruitment company. The business has built considerable depth and visibility specifically within this market.
Its growing team operates across permanent and contract recruitment , supporting organisations and professionals throughout the development, construction, commissioning and operation of critical infrastructure.
That concentration creates something difficult for smaller or more generalist competitors to replicate: market intelligence at scale.
One consultant may hear about a new site or project at development stage. Another is speaking to the contractors involved in its construction. Others understand the design, MEP, commissioning or operational requirements that follow. That information moves across the business.
For an incoming recruiter, you're therefore accessing far more than a candidate database. You're joining an established network of specialists already embedded in the market you're going to recruit.
The business also has an established US presence and the operational infrastructure required to manage US recruitment and contractors compliantly.
So you're not joining a UK recruiter that's decided America looks attractive and intends to work out the complicated bits later. They are already doing it.
The company is continuing to expand internationally, creating considerable longer-term opportunity for people who perform. That could eventually mean developing a team, progressing towards senior leadership or potentially relocating to the United States.
But none of those things are being artificially attached to the role from day one. Your first opportunity is simpler: Build an exceptional desk.

Who This Suits
There isn't only one background that could work.
You might already recruit contract professionals into the US Data Centre or Mission Critical market .
You could be an established US recruiter within Construction, Engineering, Power or MEP/HVAC who wants to move into one of the fastest-growing specialist infrastructure markets.
Or you may already know Data Centres extremely well in another geography and want to take that expertise into the US.
The closer your existing experience is to both US recruitment and Data Centres , the faster you're likely to capitalise on the opportunity and the stronger the business can be around package and initial earnings protection.
But you don't necessarily need both. What you do need is enough relevant market knowledge to become credible quickly and the commercial ability to build contract revenue.
You'll understand that a successful contract desk isn't created by waiting for vacancies. You develop accounts. You follow projects. You identify where demand is moving. You build candidate communities. You turn one requirement into several and steadily develop a contractor book that generates recurring revenue.
You'll also enjoy working in an environment where specialism matters . Clients and candidates in this market know their subject. The strongest recruiters do too.
Depending on experience and track record, you could join at Senior or Principal Consultant level . There is no immediate management responsibility.
If you subsequently produce the numbers, demonstrate leadership capability and want to build something larger, this is a growing business with plenty of scope to do so.

But the bigger attraction isn't simply another commission scheme.

Your opportunity is to turn that platform into a serious US contract desk of your own.
